Let’s Hear It for the Dads
I have been so touched by the number of dads who reach out to me when their wife is having trouble with breastfeeding. It’s such a simple gesture, really. Look up local lactation consultants and start calling them. But I see the real meaning. They see their wife struggling. They see their baby struggling. They want to “fix” the situation as soon as possible. By making the calls, they are supporting breastfeeding. They are not discouraging mom from continuing to breastfeed. They are not offering formula. They are making a huge statement by making that call. They are saying “I support you, I love you, I want to help you succeed, and I want our baby to have the most nutritious milk available”. That’s saying a lot.
